Interventional Spine and Sports

As a physician, I am focused on helping you get back to movement through a variety of approaches. After coming to a diagnosis with a thorough evaluation, treatment may include physician directed physical therapy, medication management, or a variety of interventional procedures.

Spinal Procedures

  • These are precise injections into a specific foramen of the axial spine for sciatica type pain. I perform these in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Please see @Epidural Injections for more information

  • Another approach to an epidural injection done through the interlaminar space. I perform these in the cervical and lumbar spine. Please see @Epidural Injections for more information

  • These are common diagnostic injections targeting specific the medial branches innervating a facet joint usually prior to an ablation procedure. I perform these in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Please see @MBB/RFA for more info.

  • This is a common procedure used to treat axial spine pain coming from facet joints by ablating the medial branch. I perform these in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Please see @MBB/RFA for more info.

  • Uncommon injections targeting a specific facet joint by directly performing an intra-articular injection. I perform these in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.

  • A common procedure used to target pain originating from the sacroiliac joint. Please see @Sacroiliac joint pain for more information.

  • This is an advanced, more invasive procedure, for severe pain associated from compression fractures of the spine. I perform these in the thoracic and lumbar spine.

  • This is an advanced, more invasive procedure, used to help determine whether a spinal cord stimulator is the right option for treating your pain.

  • This is an advanced, more invasive procedure, for treating axial back pain coming from the result of degenerative disk disease in the lumbar spine.

  • This procedure helps treat the effects of Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome in the lower extremities.

Services I offer:

Other MSK Procedures

  • A common injection putting medication directly into the hip joint itself.

  • A common injection putting medication directly into the knee joint itself.

  • A common injection putting medication directly into the shoulder joint itself.

  • A common injection putting medication directly into the elbow joint itself.

  • These injections can be done at a variety of tendon or muscular areas to treat pain coming from them. Common examples include pain from tennis elbow, hamstrings, shoulder impingement, hip bursitis, etc.

  • These injections target the small joints of the body as indicated including joints such as the 1st CMC joint, the ankle, etc.

Other Procedures/Services

  • Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography are a diagnostic test that can help in the diagnosis of weakness or numbness/tingling. Common diagnoses include carpal tunnel syndrome and radiculopathy. Please see @What is EMG/NCS for more information

  • I perform regenerative medicine injections using Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). PRP can largely be used in any body part and is commonly used in knee injections, muscle/tendon/bursa injections, etc. Please read @Regenerative Medicine for more information.

  • These injections specifically target a nerve involved in your pain. Commonly targeted nerves include the median nerve in the carpal tunnel and the fibular nerve at the knee.

  • After coming to a diagnosis, I help formulate a strong referral to physical therapy for ongoing strengthening and rehabilitation for your condition.

  • I order and interpret common musculoskeletal images including MRIs of your spine, XRays of your joints, and more.

  • I may prescribe you medication to help manage your pain while you continue to work on your rehabilitation. I do not prescribe chronic opioids. Please read @medication options for more information on medications I commonly prescribe.

Image Guided Procedures

I use imaging for every single injection so that I can see exactly where the medicine ends up. This maximizes our intervention and makes sure the medication goes where it needs to. No guess-work involved. I use either fluoroscopy (X-Ray) or ultrasound for all of my procedures.
