My Approach
My job as an interventional spine and sports physician is to help diagnose, treat, and educate you on whatever is holding you back from doing the things that you want to be doing. Whether you are a weekend warrior, professional athlete, or simply a grandparent trying to play with their grandchild, I’m here for you! The general steps I follow can be seen below:
-
Forming a proper diagnosis is the most important part of any musculoskeletal condition. I take my time to listen to your story and perform a thorough musculoskeletal examination prior to any discussion of managment or treatment. I may also recommend additional procedures or diagnostic testing to help in my diagnosis including nerve blocks, diagnostic injections, or electrodiagnostic testing/nerve conduction studies.
-
I believe an educated and informed patient has better outcomes 100% of the time. I take my time to discuss my diagnosis and educate you on what it means. I also set expectations for what treatment looks like and what you have to look forward to with your diagnosis. I also have additional information on this website surrounding each diagnosis for anything that is not addressed during your visit.
-
After forming a diagnosis, I may take a variety of approaches in your treatment or management using the variety of tools at my disposal. I view any treatment plan as a pyramid with the basis being some sort of appropriate exercise whether through the form of home exercises or formal physical therapy. On top of that, I may recommend various medications or procedures that I perform to help address your issue. I may also provide referrals if appropriate for other specialists including surgeons if necessary.
-
Unfortunately, medicine is not 100% every time. Sometimes, things don’t always work out and I am there with you to help navigate the situation. Whether this includes further diagnostics, procedures, referrals, or just needs more time; a less-than-ideal outcome is not the end of the road.
